A 1939 Letter to Dr. Porsche Regarding VW Factory Policies

A letter, measuring 207x295mm, better than very fine condition with folding creases, some wrinkling, and a small hole in the upper left corner. It was sent from an SS quarter in the “Stadt des KDF-Wagens” (City of the Strength through Joy car, modern day Wolfsburg, Lower Saxony) on February 17, 1939. The sender is the head of the Volkswagen factory. The letter was signed on his behalf by the head of the air raid protection of the VW company, his name is indecipherable. The recipient is the Porsche company in Stuttgart, more accurately Dr. Porsche himself. It is about a discussed smoking ban in the Cianetti Hall, one of the factory’s production halls. The working leader of the community compound has rejected the idea of implementing the smoking ban for a second time. His reasoning is that he does not want to do anything that will prove unpopular with the workers and disturb the peace and quiet.
