What's a max bid?

A 1940 Wehrmacht Educational Guide by Major Wilhelm Reibert

A copy of “Der Dienstunterricht im Heere” (The duty education in the army) by Major Wilhelm Reibert, 332 p., measuring 137x205mm, very fine condition with fraying of the spine and minor discolouration. 12th revised edition, 1940 (original edition from 1929). It is the edition for privates in a rifle company. It is a detailed training manual for German soldiers, touching on all aspects of a soldier’s life and duty in the Wehrmacht, with over 500 illustrations. The book used to belong to a soldier called Max Marbach.

Footnote: Wilhelm Reibert (1900–1966) was an officer and a lawyer. At the end of the war he held the rank of Colonel. His book was immensely popular and has been reprinted even after the war. Since the 1950s it was simply known as “the Reibert”.
