A 1943 Luftwaffe Engineers Gift for Göring Carinhall - Solid aluminum, six upward-pointing u-shaped brackets forming and an inverted pyramid, with four candle couplings along the top edge, two-level base inscribed "LUFTGAU KOMMANDO VI / GRUPPE LUFTGAUINGENIEUR. VOM 13.7.1941 - 30.11.1943" (Luftwaffe 6th Gau Air Command Engineering Group, July 13, 1941 - November 30, 1943), inventory notation on the base inscribed "Waldhof-Carinhall / Reg Nr. 64 (Waldhof-Carinhall, Registration number 64), 60 mm x 450 mm x 245 mm in height, on 150 mm wide base, weighing slightly over 2 kilograms, age spotting, near extremely fine.Footnote: Carinhall was the country residence of Hermann Göring, built on a large hunting estate northeast of Berlin in the Schorfheide forest between the lakes Großdöllner See and Wuckersee in the north of Brandenburg. Named in honour of his Swedish first wife Carin Göring (1888–1931), it was constructed in stages from 1933 on a large scale, but in the manner of a hunting lodge. The main architect was Werner March, designer of the Olympic stadium in Berlin. On 10 April 1935, Carinhall was the venue for Göring's wedding banquet with his second wife, Emmy Sonnemann.Carinhall became the destination for many of Göring's looted art treasures from across occupied Europe.
