A Cased and Named 1941 NSFK 3rd Prize Plaque for the Reichs Airplane Competition
This is a cased 3rd Prize plaque for the 13th National NSFK (National Socialist Flyers Corps/Nationalsozialistisches Fliegerkorps) Glider Flight of the Class DV Competition, accompanied with a named award certificate to NSFK Sturmann Erwin Goldhan. It is constructed of finely detailed gilded and painted blue zink; depicting a winged man (icarus) in flight, with a swastika superimposed on his legs and a semi-circular banner above his head with the recessed letters “NSFK”, surrounded by the inscription “6.8. September 1941 - Reichswettbewerb für Motorflugmodelle”, and left blank on the reverse; measuring 93.85 mm x 76.65 mm; accompanied by an award certificate named to NSFK Sturmmann Erwin Goldhan for reaching 3rd place in the 13th National NSFK Glider Flight of the Class DV Competition; with the facsimile of the General der Flieger; measuring 89 mm x 103 mm; with its original case of issue; constructed of heavy pressed paper with a textured burgundy faux leather (leatherette) exterior; with a lined interior lid featuring a removable flap to store the award certificate; with a recessed medal bed; functional spring catch with stud release; intact but slightly frayed interior fabric hinge cover; functional exterior metal hinge; overall extremely fine condition.
