A Czechoslovakian Medal for the Defence of the Homeland - Silver gilt, hallmarked, maker marked "ZUKOV" and marked "900" (silver) on the reverse of the medal, hallmarked on the reverse of the wreath, 32 mm x 47.8 mm, original ribbon, gilt loss overall, near extremely fine. Footnote: The medal was instituted on February 8, 1955 for bravery in defence of the Czechoslovak Republic and its borders. In 1960, "CSR" (Czechoslovak Republic) became "CSSR" (Czechoslovak Socialist Republic). The medal was suppressed in 1990.
