A ERII Memorial Cross to the Royal Canadian Air Force - (R-51408 SGT. H.A. BELLAMY). Naming is officially engraved. Suspended from a pinback hanger, light contact, near extremely fine. In its hardshelled case of issue, case also near extremely fine. Accompanied by his Airman's Record of Service. Footnote: Herbert Arthur Bellamy enlisted with the Royal Canadian Air Force (R-51408) as an Aircraftman 2nd Class, on October 20, 1939 in Winnipeg, Manitoba. He was sent to No. 1 Manning Depot in Toronto on October 23, 1939, then transferred to No. 1 Air Navigation School in Trenton, Ontario on October 25, 1939, where he was named to the ranks of Aircraftman 1st Class (February 29, 1940) and Leading Aircraftman (June 1, 1940). No. 1 Air Navigation School moved operations to Rivers, Manitoba, on November 21, 1940, with Bellamy following along, the school later re-designated the Central Navigation School. At Rivers, he saw three advances in rank: to Acting Corporal (December 5, 1940), to Corporal (December 15, 1940) and to Acting Sergeant (March 1, 1942). After over two and half years at Rivers, he was transferred to No. 8 Repair Depot in Winnipeg on July 13, 1943 for eight months, before seeing another transfer, this time to No. 18 Service Flying Training School at Gimli, Manitoba on March 14, 1944. He was to see two additional transfers during 1944: to No. 7 Service Flying Training School at Fort MacLeod, Alberta on June 9th and to No. 15 Service Flying Training School at Claresholm, Alberta on November 18th. Bellamy was transferred to No. 7 Release Centre in Calgary, Alberta, on April 15, 1945 and was discharged on May 19th. He died post-war, his illness attributed to his Second World War service, the family issued the ERII Memorial Cross.
