A Fine First War Royal Air Force (RAF) Pilot Wing c.1918
Likely of 1918 Canadian manufacture, offered is a scarce RAF wing variant with finely detailed brown feathered wings as well as an open-ended wreath in olive green embroidery, surmounted by the crown in off-white and red embroidery, on a black wool base, black cotton mesh backer, measuring 33 mm x 102 mm, uniform worn, extremely fine. A rare example and unseen in published wing guides. Footnote: The Royal Flying Corps and the Royal Naval Air Service merged to form the Royal Air Force on April 1, 1918.
