A First War 105th Infantry Battalion "Prince Edward Island Highlanders" Tapestry

Multi-coloured wool embroidery on a thick white cotton base, incorporating fifteen very bright colours, featuring the insignia of the 105th Infantry Battalion "Prince Edward Island Highlanders". The ribbon banner in salmon with the inside of the perimeter rolls in light blue, the identification circle below in a combination of salmon and light red, with the inscriptions "CANADA" and "PRINCE EDWARD ISLAND HIGHLANDERS" in light yellow. The crown above the ribbon banner in dark yellow, dark red and navy blue, with touches of light blue and dark green in the crown's base. The coat-of-arms of PEI below the ribbon banner, the lion in dark yellow, its eyes in light blue and its nose and mouth in black on a dark red field, the dark yellow field below housing the four trees in dark green, the number "105" in ultramarine blue, with the remaining inside of the circle in dark green and matching the trees. The insignia sits upon a large maple leaf in three shades of green, the veins of the leaf in brown, matching that of the brown stem, the tip of the stem in light blue. The insignia measures 238 mm x 240 mm, the white cotton base measuring 330 mm x 350 mm. Quality-made, extremely fine. Footnote: The Battalion was raised in Prince Edward Island with mobilization headquarters at Charlottetown, under the authority of G.O. 151, December 22, 1915. The Battalion sailed July 16, 1916, under the command of Lieutenant-Colonel A.E. Ings with a strength of 37 officers and 1,087 other ranks. In England, the Battalion was absorbed into the 104th Infantry Battalion. It was disbanded on September 15, 1920.
