A First War 14th Infantry Battalion "Royal Montreal Regiment" Cap Badge - Blackened browning copper, unmarked, 28 mm x 46.3 mm, intact lugs, extremely fine. Footnote: The Battalion was raised from the Royal Montreal Regiment and mobilized at Camp Valcartier, Quebec under the authority of P.C.O. 2067, August 6, 1914. The Battalion sailed with a strength of 46 officers and 1,097 other ranks under the command of Lieutenant-Colonel F.J. Meighen on October 3, 1914. The Battalion served in France and Belgium with the 3rd Infantry Brigade, 1st Canadian Division. The Battalion was disbanded on September 15, 1920. (C:4)
