A First War 161st Infantry Battalion Pennant Attributed to Captain Thomas Roy Rundle

Huron Battalion: 161st Infantry Battalion Pennant: red, white, blue, green and yellow screen-printed inks, on a purple felt triangular base, illustrating crossed British and Canadian ensigns above a maple leaf, inscribed "161st HURON BATTALION, C.E.F." to the right, 292 mm x 450 mm, free of mothing, some fading of the inks, very fine. Accompanied by a paper with pasted newspapers clippings, four envelopes, one of which contains a letter, along with a postcard, attributed to Captain Thomas Roy Rundle of the 161st Infantry Battalion "Huron Battalion".

Footnote: Thomas Roy Rundle was born on July 22, 1882 in Westminster Township, Middlesex County, Ontario. He was a resident of Goderich, Ontario when he signed his CEF Officers' Declaration Paper with the 161st Infantry Battalion "Huron Battalion" in the rank of Captain, on December 18, 1915 in Goderich, at the age of 33, naming his next-of-kin as his mother, Mrs. Elizabeth Rundle of Goderich, stating that he had eight years' service with the 33rd Huron Regiment, that his religion was Church of England and that his occupation was that of Farming.
