A First War Canadian Medal Pair to the 22nd Infantry Battalion - British War Medal (3031835 PTE. A. POTVIN. 22-CAN.INF.); and Victory Medal (3031835 PTE. A. POTVIN. 22-CAN.INF.). Naming is officially impressed. Unmounted, original ribbon with its ends sewn together on the VM, edge nicks, contact marks and surface wear, replacement suspension on the VM, near very fine. Footnote: Arthur Potvin was born on November 10, 1889 in Saint-Sauveur, Quebec. He was a resident of Grand Mere, Quebec when he signed his Particulars of Recruit Drafted Under Military Service Act 1917, as a Private (3031835) with the 1st Depot Battalion, 1st Company Regiment in Toronto, Ontario, on November 2, 1917, a week shy of his 28th birthday, naming his next-of-kin as his mother, Mary Baker Potvin, stating that he had no previous military service, that he was Single and his trade as that of Cook. His medical examination had been performed on October 27th in Parry Sound, Ontario and his number was 792720 B.C. under the Military Service Act. He was later transferred to the 22nd Infantry Battalion "Canadiens Francais" and survived the war.
