A First War CEF 20th Infantry Battalion "1st Central Ontario Regiment" Cap Badge
Canada; Browning copper, maker mark obscured on the reverse, 46.5 mm x 50.5 mm, one lug is intact, the other is a replacement, light contact, better than very fine. Footnote: The Battalion was raised in Central and Northern Ontario and mobilized in Toronto under the authority of G.O. 36, March 15, 1915. The Battalion sailed May 15, 1915 aboard the S.S. Megantic, under the command of Lieutenant-Colonel J.A.W. Allen, with a strength of 35 officers and 1,100 other ranks, arriving in England on May 24th. The Battalion served in France and Belgium with the 4th Infantry Brigade, 2nd Canadian Division. It was disbanded on September 15, 1920.
