A First War German Imperial Medal to the Fallen 1914-1917
                Silvered zinc alloy, obverse illustrating three graves, a wreath around the base of the grave marker at the left, with two artillery shells in front, the marker bearing a hexagon, a wreath with bow-tied ribbon around the arm of the central grave marker, with a pickelhaube and wreath at the base, the marker bearing a cross, a pickelhaube surrounded by a wreath at the base of the grave marker at the right, the marker with a peak top and bearing an oval, with small evergreen trees between each grave, inscribed "Wer mutig für Sein Vaterland gefallen der baut sich selbst in ewig Monument / Th. Körner" above and engraver marked "BHM" (B.H. Mayer, Pforzheim) below the grave at the right, reverse illustrating winged angels on either side of a plaque, the plaque inscribed "ZUR ERINNERUNG AN" above and "WELT-KRIEG 1914-17" below, with an area in between for a dedication to a fallen soldier, inscribed "WER NICHT ALLES HiNGiBRT HAT ALLES" above the plaque and "VERWEiGERT." below and engraver marked "BHM" below the angel at the left, 60.7 mm, oxidation spots evident on both sides, near extremely fine.
