A First War Imperial Service Medal Group to the Royal Engineers - 1914-15 Star (59767. SPR. J.H. SENDALL, R.E.); British War Medal (59767 CPL. J.H. SENDALL. R.E.); Victory Medal (59767 CPL. J.H. SENDALL. R.E.); and Imperial Service Medal, George VI (JOHN HENRY SENDALL). Naming is officially impressed. First World War trio is mounted to a suspension with swing bar pinback, as worn by the veteran, original ribbons, the ISM with a pinback, dark patinas on the silver medals, edge wear on the BWM, light contact and surface wear, better than very fine. Accompanied by a copy of his Index Card (confirming his awarding of the First World War trio) and page 2184 from the Second Supplement to the London Gazette 37955 of Tuesday, May 13, 1947, on Friday, May 16, 1947 (confirming his awarding of the Imperial Service Medal).   Footnote: John Henry Sendall was born in 1879. He was employed in 1906 as a rural postman in Swarkestone, Derbyshire and was married in 1912. He served at 9th Infantry Brigade Headquarters before the First World War and during the war, served with the Royal Engineers, first as a Sergeant, and later, as a Corporal, entering the French theatre on July 9, 1915. Sendall was awarded the Imperial Service Medal, as mentioned in the Second Supplement to the London Gazette 37955 of Tuesday, May 13, 1947, on Friday, May 16, 1947, page 2184. He died on September 25, 1966. (C:36)
