Germany, Third Reich. A Fire Brigade Service Support Belt
Fabricated from a thick webbed cotton, with two wide red stripes on a black background appearing on both sides, trimmed in a brown twisted cord on both long sides, with smooth finished black leather strips stitched in place on either end, two 25 mm wide smooth finished black leather straps with black painted metal single-claw buckles and securing loops stitched in place at the right end, two 25 mm wide leather straps with smooth finished black uppers and raw undersides stitched in place at the left end, each with four holes each for length adjustment, a rectangular ring attached to a 28 mm wide smooth finished black leather strap stitched in place 210 mm from the right end along the top edge, all metal parts are magnetic, 103 mm x 905 mm, wear evident on the leather strips on the ends, especially the one at the right, leather straps exhibit crazing but remain relatively supple given their age, the exterior with soiling present at either end but without interruption in the fabric. Very fine.
