A German Made First War Propeller Ashtray
Acquired from a German estate, ashtray fabricated from an original First War lacquer-finished propeller, composed of eight pieces of wood glued together, the propeller having been cut through in two locations to form a "slice" of wood, the one end forming the top and gouged out, the voided area replaced with an elliptical bronze plate, the base with a inverted pebbled surface, the lip of the plate held firmly in place via six pins, 100 mm in width x 173 mm in length x 54 mm in height, the pointier end of the plate slightly bent and its corresponding pin raised slightly above the surface of the plate, exhibiting nips in the wood in a few locations from its period alteration. Very fine.
