What's a max bid?

Your maximum bid should be the highest amount you're willing to pay for an item.

Your entered maximum bid will not be disclosed to the seller or other auction participants at any point.

Max bidding example:

If the current auction price is $100 dollars and you place a maximum bid of $120 dollars, the system will bid $101 dollars on your behalf.

If no other participant places a bid, you win that auction lot for $101 dollars.

If another auction participant places a bid of $110 dollars, the system will subsequently place a bid of $111 dollars on your behalf. The system will continue to bid in $1.00 dollar increments until your maximum bid of $120 dollars is exceeded.

If another auction participant places a bid for $125 dollars, the auction lot price will display $121 dollars having exceeded your previously submitted maximum bid by $1.00 dollar.

A German National Forestry Service Official's Belt with Buckle by F.W. Assmann & Söhne

Buckle in silvered aluminum on the right end of the belt, maker marked with the stylized Assmann "A" (F.W. Assmann & Söhne, Lüdenscheid) on the reverse, illustrating a left-facing spread-winged eagle, its talons gripping a wreathed swastika, on a pebbled background, surrounded by a wreath of oak leaves and acorns with a ribbon at the base, the buckle measuring 50 mm x 54.5 mm. Belt with a smooth finished forest green upper, with a green felt underside, belt passes through the loop of the buckle and finishes on the back, the buckle stitched in place, pebbled finished brown leather tab stitched in place on the underside at the left end, the tab with six rows of two holes each for length adjustment, aluminum receiving clip on the left end, belt with two sliders that have matching uppers, an additional smooth finished brown tab wrapped the receiving clip and stitched to the slider at the left end, the belt measuring 44 mm x 1,120 mm. Scattered silvering wear on the buckle, light crazing and surface wear present on the upper, separation of the felt underside from the leather belt for 200 mm along the bottom edge near the buckle. Better than very fine.

Footnote: From the collection of approximately 900 German buckles accumulated by John R. Angolia, who start collecting buckles, belts and brocades from 1944 until around 1990; most of the buckles were obtained from the American and German veterans; most of these buckles present a core of Angolia’s book “Belt Buckles & Brocades of the Third Reich”, published in 2001.
