A German West Wall Medal in its Original Packet of Issue by Carl Poellath
A third reich period “Deutsches Schutzwall-Ehrenzeichen”; oval zink alloy; on a loop for suspension; with its correct replacement ribbon; the obverse with a crossed shovel and sword in the centre, and a concrete pillbox/bunker directly below, as well as with the German national eagle above, all within an oak leaf wreath; the reverse inscribed “Für Arbeit zum schutze Deutschlands” (For labour for the protection of Germany) within an oak wreath; measuring 45.40 mm x 33.24 mm; weighing 13.3 grams; with its original paper packet of issue, with “Deutsches Schutzwall Ehrenzeichen” printed in black gothic lettering and “Carl Poellath, Schrobenhausen” on the reverse in the same style; measuring 103 mm x 60 mm; with all of the original gilt finish worn off; in extremely fine condition.
