A Hamburg ID Card and Work Passport to Hellmut Libowski
An ID card and a passport, both measuring 104x148mm, very fine condition with folding crease and scuffing. The ID card is for the city of Hamburg, part of the British occupation zone. It is dated to October 19, 1945 and valid for 5 years. It states that Hellmut Walter Libowski was born on November 23, 1919 in Beerberg, district of Lauban (today part of Leśna, Silesia, western Poland) and worked as a Gebrauchswerber (visual merchandiser). His left index finger is missing, which is why there is just one fingerprint instead of two (usually both index fingers). The work passport is dated to September 1947. It states that Libowski worked for the toy producer Hans Nehlsen between November 1946 and December 1948. He also worked for Joh. Biebler, Inc., a department store, during the first week of February 1949, and then again starting in late April 1949.
