Hrs); King's South Africa Medal, 2 Clasps - SOUTH AFRICA 1901, SOUTH AFRICA 1902 (4992 Pte H. BURNS. GORDON HIGHRS:); and 1914-15 Star (1262 Pte H. BURNS. P.P.C.L.I.). Naming is officially engraved in italic script, inverted on the India Medal and officially impressed on the KSAM and the Star. Un-mounted, original ribbons, bruising on the KSAM, contact marks, better than very fine. Footnote: Henry Burns was born on October 24, 1872 in Glasgow, Scotland. He served with the Gordon Highlanders for sixteen years, seeing service in the Indian theatre with the 1st Battalion and in the South Africa theatre during the Boer War. He later married and immigrated to Canada. Upon the outbreak of the First World War, Burns enlisted for service as a Private with the Princess Patricia's Canadian Light Infantry (1262), signing his Attestation Paper on August 26, 1914, in Ottawa, Ontario, at the age of 41 years and 10 months (two months shy of his 42nd birthday but the examiner stated his age officially as 40 on the Attestation Paper), naming his next-of-kin as his wife, Mrs. R. Burns of Hamilton, Ontario, stating that he had sixteen years' previous service with the Gordon Highlanders, that he was Married and that his trade was that of Labourer. He survived the war.
