A Kriegsmarine Enlisted Man's Belt Buckle by Richard Simm & Sohne
In mold injected gilt aluminum, maker marked with the initial "R", with the remaining marks having become illegible (R.S.&S. = Richard Simm & Sohne, Gablonz) on the reverse, measuring 48 mm x 64.5 mm, emboss stamped with an eagle and swastika insignia above a stylized "M" (Marine), with the "R. SIEPER & SOHN LÜDENSCHEID" maker mark and dated "1937" below on the leather tab, worn, remains near extremely fine. Footnote: From the collection of approximately 900 German buckles accumulated by John R. Angolia, who start collecting buckles, belts and brocades from 1944 until around 1990; most of the buckles were obtained from the American and German veterans; most of these buckles present a core of Angolia’s book “Belt Buckles & Brocades of the Third Reich”, published in 2001.
