A Kriegsmarine Enlisted Man's/NCO's Overseas Side Cap; French Made
Constructed with a black wool exterior, fold down panels with gently sloping, downward scallops to the front and forward sides, the panels sewn in place via stitching at the front behind the cockade, sewn in place on the peak on the front is a Kriegsmarine eagle in yellow and navy blue machine embroidery, illustrating a left-facing spread-winged eagle, its talons gripping a wreathed swastika below, embroidered tri-colour cockade on a navy blue background sewn in place on the fold down flap below the eagle. The interior is lined in a black cotton-rayon blend, maker stamped "S M CHAPELIÈRE PARISIENNE PARIS" and size stamped "57" in white ink on the left side. The cap measures 110 mm x 280 mm, very clean, with intact stitching and is free of interruptions in the fabric, near mint.
