War Merit Cross in bronze gilt, 41.3 mm, original combatant's ribbon, scattered green oxidation spots and gilt wear, near extremely fine. Accompanied by a War Merit Cross Award Document to "Brinkmeier" of Infantry Regiment 190, dated July 25, 1918, obverse with a photograph of Prince Leopold IV at the left with a crown above and inscribed "Leopold IV Fürst zur Lippe" and "1914" below, the named area of the document illustrating the War Merit Cross backed by crossed rifles and flags above, with the coat-of-arms of Lippe-Detmold below, reverse with an explanation of the establishment of the cross under the heading "Höchster Erlass", printed in brown and navy blue inks on the obverse, printed in black ink on the reverse, on a thick light yellow paper stock, 247 mm x 282 mm, document extremely fine.
