A fine lot of six awards recovered from the bombed Zimmermann factory, consisting of 1) Three War Merit Crosses Second Class with Swords; one (bronze) appears finished while the other two are first strikes; in zinc. 2) A Close Combat Clasp; first trike; in zink. 3) A German Social Welfare medal; appears finished (bronze). 4) An unknown german award with two rings of red enamels on the outer edge. In fire damaged and ground found condition.
Footnote: Zimmermann was a well known German manufacturer of a great variety of awards, German, as well as international, that was destroyed in an allied bombing raid in the early 1940’s on Pforzheim, Germany. Sometime during the 1990’s, during construction on the former factory site, a quantity of medals was discovered and purchased by eMedals. Some were in good condition, but most of the pieces exhibited fire damage, or were rusted. Hundreds of pieces were partially finished, and some items were just medal parts, as one would expect to be found in the factory.
