What's a max bid?

Your maximum bid should be the highest amount you're willing to pay for an item.

Your entered maximum bid will not be disclosed to the seller or other auction participants at any point.

Max bidding example:

If the current auction price is $100 dollars and you place a maximum bid of $120 dollars, the system will bid $101 dollars on your behalf.

If no other participant places a bid, you win that auction lot for $101 dollars.

If another auction participant places a bid of $110 dollars, the system will subsequently place a bid of $111 dollars on your behalf. The system will continue to bid in $1.00 dollar increments until your maximum bid of $120 dollars is exceeded.

If another auction participant places a bid for $125 dollars, the auction lot price will display $121 dollars having exceeded your previously submitted maximum bid by $1.00 dollar.

Buyer's Premium

All bids are subject to a Buyer's Premium which is in addition to the placed successful bid. The following rate of Buyer's Premium will be added to the Hammer Price of each Lot that you purchase:

A Luftschutz Air Raid Protection Helmet

Steel helmet, magnetic, rolled edge, original dark blue exterior, winged Luftschutz insignia applique in silver on the front, original weather-resistant fabric chinstrap with two length adjustment buckles in metal, the ends of the chinstrap with metal buckles affixed to leather straps protruding from the liner's leather frame. The underside of the helmet is stamped "B2-38/28" above an applique inscribed "Vertrieb genehmigt gemass § 8 Luftschutzgesetz Kopfweite 57 Hochstpreis RM 8." at the front, the frame fabricated from leather with a white wool inner lining, the inside complete with its original three panel liner, each panel with a butterscotch-coloured leather front and cloth back, incorporating two tabs that each have a single hole for the placement of the original drawstring which is intact, the helmet with its original pins holding the frame firmly in place. The helmet measures 250 mm x 285 mm x 160 mm in height, exhibiting the expected paint chipping and contact marks, along with crazing and wear on the liner from active use. Better than very fine. Footnote: This particular helmet is part of a uncommon Canadian veterans collection. Canadian Army Cook Walker served in North West Europe between 1944-45 and was subsequently part of the occupation force that remained in Germany until 1952 when he returned to Canada. During this period of time, Cook Walker amassed a collection of German helmets, many of them extremely rare. After years in storage in Vancouver, British Columbia, the collection of helmets is now available for sale.
