A Portuguese Order of Military Merit; Grand Officer Set with Case

Grand Cross: silver gilt with red and white enamels, unmarked, 52.7 mm x 67.5 mm, with a 14.3 mm x 20.5 mm tower suspension, on its full-length neck ribbon; and Breast Star: multi-piece construction, silver gilt with orange and white enamels, unmarked, 72.2 mm x 72.8 mm, vertical pinback. Small chip in the white enamels on the reverse left arm on the Grand Cross, light contact on both pieces, near extremely fine. Accompanied by its Rosette (10 mm x 11.5 mm silver gilt and white and orange enamelled cross affixed in the centre, 16 mm, with a black plastic button hole attachment), in its hardshelled case of issue, Portuguese coat-of-arms flanked by an "R." at the left and a "P." at the right (Republica Portuguesa) on the lid, recessed and slotted medal bed, light contact on the exterior, case also near extremely fine; along with a Christmas Card from the Minister of National Defence (Portuguese coat-of-arms and inscribed "MINISTRO DA DEFESA NACIONAL" on the front cover, flag of the Minister of Defence on the back cover, insert illustrating a map marking the Castles of Portugal and illustrating "Castelo de Guimaraes", inscribed "With the Best of Good Wishes for Christmas and the New Year" in English, French and Portuguese, signed in green ink by the Minister of Defence, 122 mm x 150 mm, red and yellow ribbon tie on the spine).
