A Rare High Quality Class “F” (Gold with Diamonds) FIA Civil Gliding Proficiency Award Stick Pin
This is a rare and high quality manufacture “Klasse F” International Gliding Commission (IGC) - Internationale Segelflugkommission (ISK) - Federation Aeronautique Internationale (FIA) gliding award stick pin; in gilded silver (marked “925”) and maker marked “B.H. Mayer, Pforzheim” on reverse; 44 mm knurled pin; measuring 15.23 mmin diameter; weighing 2.3 grams; in better than extremely fine condition, with all of the gilt remaining, but with a small chip in the enamels at the six o’clock position. Footnote: The International Gliding Commission awarded a series of proficiency badges to glider pilots on their successful completion of the appropriate tests and gliding trials. The “F” class certificate was awarded for the completion of a 300 km predefined flight, gliding 500 km in one flight, and gaining 5 km in height.
