A Second Pattern Officer’s Luftwaffe Dagger by Alcoso Solingen with Hangers
A 2nd Pattern Luftwaffe Dagger by Alcoso Solingen; measuring 424 mm with the scabbard on, this dagger features a diamond shaped 255 mm nickel-plated magnetic steel blade, with very sharp edges, remaining bright and crisp, and having semi-sharp tip. The blade's reverse ricasso is maker marked Alcoso Solingen with the company's stylized logo.The leather washer at the crossguard junction remains intact and the blade only exhibits light wear from extraction and return to the scabbard, natural shine, with scattered surface wear, extremely fine. The aluminum hilt fittings are nicely detailed, including the embellished pommel, eagle crossguard and quillon surfaces, with very light contact. The swastikas on both sides of the pommel retain much of their gilt. Darker pumpkin-coloured celluloid grip, along with ten rows of tightly wound aluminum bullion wire around the grip are free of interruption and in overall very good shape. Silvered metal scabbard measures 297 mm, magnetic, with a traditional pebbled finish, crisp ball finial, the throat retained by two mounted screws, oak leaf bands with rings, free of dent; dagger portepee fabricated from fine aluminum bullion wire; the head in multiple rows of innate twisted wires; the centre of the head in loops matching embroidery; the stem in a thatched design; with long fine aluminum wire cord tightly wound around the scabbard and pommel of the dagger; Accompanied by a set of Luftwaffe dagger hanger straps - Two straps, each with two rows of silver bullion wire and bluish-gray embroidered uppers, black corduroy backers, attached to the hanger bar via leather tabs stitched at the ends, silvered and gilt steel hardware, ornate oakleaf design on the hardware, each has an adjustable rectangular buckle with sliding metal adjustment, hanger is marked with the RZM insignia, maker marked "U.E. 10" and marked "D.R.G.M." (Deutches Reichsgebrauschsmuster), both spring-loaded clips are functional, measuring 53 mm x 255 mm overall, gilt wear on the buckles, extremely fine. (C:49)
