A Second War German Silver Grade Infantry Assault Badge by Ferdinand Wiedmann
A second war German “Infanterie-Sturmabzeichen” bronze grade; oval shaped oak leaf wreath in bronzed feinzink, with a national eagle clutching a swastika on the top and a bowtie on the bottom. Diagonally across the badge is a Karabiner 98k with the bayonet attached to the front of the barrel and the carrying sling hanging from the rifle; the reverse plain; with a vertical round wire pinback, a sheet metal hinge, and a flat wire catch; maker marked with the stylized logo of “Ferdinand Wiedmann”; measuring 61.26 mm x 45.96 mm; weighing 21.8 grams; with the majority of the original bronze wash worn off on the obverse, but with the reverse well preserved.
