A Second War Italian Army Generals Tunic

A Second War Italian Army Generals Tunic; This dress tunic is fabricated from a grayish-green cotton-wool blend. The shoulders are adorned with 55 mm x 132 mm shoulder boards, the uppers on each board in silver bullion, with the Italian eagle insignia in silver bullion and the star below in gold bullion, both with their own red felt backer, outer edges of the bullion uppers stitched in white threading, the edge and reverse of the boards including the strap in red felt, both straps held in place via small silvered metal buttons with the Army insignia. The collar is in black velvet with its edge trimmed in red felt, matching the shoulder boards, plus gilt metal stars placed on either side and held firmly in place via screwbacks on the reverse side. The front has four large pockets, one on each breast which have decorative straps giving them a pleated-look, fold over button down flaps with reinforced button holes flanked by snap closures, the accompanying small silvered metal buttons with the Army insignia and maker marked "BOMISA MILANO" on their reverses. The other two pockets at the waist have fold over flaps, are larger and deeper than the breast pockets, with similar decorative straps giving them a pleated-look, fold over button down flaps with reinforced button holes, and the same small silvered metal buttons. Above the left breast pocket is a three level ribbon bar, incorporating eight ribbons (Cross for Military Valour, Medal for Volunteers of the War 1940-1945, Spanish Campaign Commemorative Medal 1936 / East Africa Medal 1936 with a bronze bullion FERT sword, War Commemorative Medal 1940-1943 with silver bullion star, possibly the Tuscan Long Service Cross / Naval Long Voyage Accomplished Medal, Long Service Cross with gold bullion star). The front is completed by four large silvered metal buttons on the right side, each with the Army insignia and maker marked "BOMISA MILANO" on their reverses, facing four reinforced buttonholes on the left, while the rear of the tunic is single-vented. Each of the sleeve cuffs are purposely designed without buttons, the upper edges of which are trimmed in red felt. Immediately above the trim on both cuffs are intricate 88 mm x 95 mm rank insignia in silver bullion and silver wire, both with olive green wool backers and sewn in place to the sleeves. The inside of the tunic comes with a synthetic, sea-green cloth lining, while the sleeves are lined in white rayon with pinstripes. There are two pockets, one on either side, the right one with a button down tab and a maker label above inscribed "SARTORIA F. Rossitto VENEZIA", the left one designed to be buttonless. The tunic measures 440 mm across the shoulders x 745 mm in length, exhibiting light soiling and wear on the interior lining and in the armpits, intact stitching throughout, better than very fine.
