Wyse, Miscellaneous Trades Company, late Imperial Yeomanry and Lord Strathcona’s Horse Queen’s South Africa 1899-1902, 1 clasp, Natal (164 Pte., Ld. Strathcona’s H.) clasp loose on ribbon; King’s South Africa 1901-02, 2 clasps (36659 Cpl., Imp. Yeo.); British War and Bilingual Victory Medals (Spr., M.T.C.) edge bruising, very fine and better. Footnote: David Wyse was born in Fifeshire, Scotland. A Rancher by occupation, he enlisted into Lord Strathcona’s Horse at Regina on 7 February 1900, aged 30 years. He served with them in South Africa for a year, after which he volunteered for service with the 113th Company Imperial Yeomanry (Lovats Scouts). After the war Wyse received a grant of land and remained in South Africa. In the Great War he served with the South African Miscellaneous Trades Company. With copied research, including roll extracts and service papers. Also includes two letters, one a letter to the Adjutant General of the Militia, Canada, dated 23 July 1903 in which Wyse makes claim for the clasps Natal, Belfast and Orange Free State; the other, a letter in reply from the D.A.G., Ottawa, dated 1 September 1903 which accompanied the (unspecified) clasps sent to Wyse.
