A Superb Portuguese Order of Christ with Diamonds - a breast star, constructed of silver, backed by a solid Gold plate and maker’s cartouche, also in Gold (typical construction of mid 19th Century period), set throughout with approximately 396 genuine rose-cut diamonds (of average quality, weighing total approximately 7.5 carats); centering a cross in Gold, also set with diamonds and surrounded by square cut garnets; toped with Sacred Heart, in Gold and red polished stone (appears also to be Garnet); toned, with makers cartouche on reverse (Halley, Paris), of superb quality manufacture, mid 19th Century, very attractive and very rare.
