British War Medal (302293 GNR. C.J. WARD. C.F.A.). Naming is officially impressed. Original ribbon, contact marks, very fine. Accompanied by his Identification Tags (one is octagonal, bakelite, handwritten "WARD C.J. 3rd CDAC 302293", 32.2 mm x 37.8 mm; the other is aluminum, stamped "3C DAC WARD C J TPTR 302293", 38.3 mm; the two tags joined together via rope); two CANADA Shoulder Titles (bronze, unmarked, 11.5 mm x 49 mm each, one of two lugs intact on both); a Canada General Service Collar Tab (browning copper, unmarked, 26.7 mm x 29.5 mm, one of two lugs intact); and a 2nd Canadian Overseas Contingent Watch Fob (blackened metal, obverse illustrating three infantrymen firing their rifles, crossed cannons and three sets of three cannonballs each below, surrounded by the inscription "2nd CANADIAN OVERSEAS CONTINGENT", reverse illustrating an inverted maple leaf, inscribed "THE ALLIES BRITAIN-FRANCE RUSSIA-BELGIUM SERVIA-JAPAN WAR 1914", on a pebbled background, 38.7 mm, integral suspension, with leather strap and buckle). Footnote: Cecil John Ward was born in Hamilton, Ontario on February 2, 1887. He signed his Attestation Paper (302293) on September 21, 1915 in Hamilton, at the age of 28, naming his next-of-kin as his mother, Louisa E. Ward of Hamilton, stating that he had no previous military service, that he was not married and that his trade was that of Plumber. Ward served as a Gunner with the 40th Battery, Canadian Field Artillery
