Footnote: The Order of Agricultural Merit was created on August 10, 1962, to recognize individuals who contributed distinguished services in the field of agriculture. It came in three classes: Commander, Officer and Knight. The Malagasy Republic was a state situated in Southeast Africa. It was established in 1958 as an autonomous republic within the newly created French Community and existed until the proclamation of the Democratic Republic of Madagascar in 1975.
