Ordre national du Léopard. Instituted in 1966. Type I (1967-1971). In silver with red, white and blue enamels, marked with a wreath above the maker mark "A.B. & Co" (Arthus Bertrand) and marked "800" (silver) on the loop, measuring 47.5 mm (w) x 76.5 mm (h) inclusive of its star suspension, flaking evident in the red enamels on the star point at 12 o''clock on both sides, otherwise, the enamels are intact, without ribbon, near extremely fine.
Footnote: The National Order of the Leopard is the highest honourific decoration of the Democratic Republic of the Congo. It was instituted on May 24, 1966 in the Ordinance-law Number 66-330 by President Joseph-Désiré Mobutu. It rewards the high military or civil merits rendered in the Congo. The President of the Congo is the Grand Chancellor of the Order. Its administration is in the care of the Chancellor. It is awarded in five grades: Grand Cordon, Grand Officer, Commander, Officer and Knight.
