In silver with red, white and blue enamels, marked with a wreath above the maker mark "A.B. & Co" (Arthus Bertrand) and marked "800" (silver) on the loop, measuring 47.3 mm (w) x 68 mm (h) inclusive of its crossed swords suspension, intact enamels, slight tarnishing on the obverse, on an original shortened neck ribbon with the colours used on the award when the country was known as Zaire (1971-1997), extremely fine.
Footnote: The National Order of the Leopard is the highest honourific decoration of the Democratic Republic of the Congo. It was instituted on May 24, 1966 in the Ordinance-law Number 66-330 by President Joseph-Désiré Mobutu. It rewards the high military or civil merits rendered in the Congo. The President of the Congo is the Grand Chancellor of the Order. Its administration is in the care of the Chancellor. It is awarded in five grades: Grand Cordon, Grand Officer, Commander, Officer and Knight.
