Hardshelled design on both the lid and base with a scarlet red pebbled on all sides, marked with the Royal cypher above the class designation "3" in Eastern Arabic and trimmed with an ornate border in gold-coloured ink on the lid, the edges of the lid bevelled, marked "20" in handwritten ink on the bottom, inside lid lined in white satin and padded, a white fabric-wrapped cardboard insert placed within the base, the bottom of the base lined in red felt, single clasp closure, measuring 100 (w) x 143 mm (h) x 33.5 mm (h), the exterior with light wear and soiling evident on the lid and sides, the bottom exhibiting edge wear and soiling, a stain and slight nip in the satin lining of the inside lid, fine.
Footnote: The Order of Independence was instituted in 1955 and discontinued by 1965. It was awarded for contributions to the establishment of the Republic, in three grades.
