Footnote: The Medal for Meritorious Actions was instituted by Sultan Husain Kamil in 1917 and awarded without discrimination of sex or nationality, for long and meritorious services to the King, the state or society. Modified by King Fu’ad I in 1923 and 1928, and ranked after all orders and military medals. It was awarded in three categories: I Class Gold Grade, II Class Silver Grade and II Class Bronze Grade. The medal bar recorded the date and nature of the services for which the award was made, further services being recognized by additional bars.
