Egypt, Kingdom. An Order of Ismail, Grand Cordon in Gold, by J. Lattes, c. 1925
(Nishan al-Ismail). Instituted 1915 by Hussein Kamel of Egypt. An award of superb quality, an 18K Gold star consisting of five blue enamelled arms with ball finials, each arm with ornate Gold inlay and borders, center medallion with beaded Gold surround consisting of green enamelled laurels and blue center bearing the Arabic inscription for “Order of Ismail”, with Egyptian Crown suspension also in Gold with enamelled detailing, manufacturer marked LATTES on reverse, as well as marked on reverse, with an Ibis denoting gold manufacture, and Z date mark denoting 1925 manufacture, measures 60.9mm (w) x 79.7mm (h), weighs 44.0 grams, worn on a full length sash, enamels intact, a beautiful decoration in better than extremely fine condition.
