An award of superb quality, a Gold star consisting of five blue enamelled arms with ball finials, each arm with ornate Gold inlay and borders, center medallion with beaded Gold surround consisting of green enamelled laurels and blue center bearing the Arabic inscription for “Order of Ismail”, with Egyptian Crown suspension also in Gold with enamelled detailing, manufacturer marked LATTES on reverse, as well as marked on reverse, obverse integral suspension, and suspension ring with Arabic city hallmark for Cairo manufacture, Stork denoting Gold Manufacture, and Egyptian Date Letter "A" (1925-26), measures 61.4mm (w) x 82.8mm (h – inclusive of crown suspension and loop), weighs 46.9 grams, accompanied by a period full length sash, enamels intact, a beautiful Grand Cross in better than extremely fine condition. The star of the order, a Gold star consisting of five blue enamelled arms with ball finials, clusters of faceted silver rays in each quadrant, each arm with ornate Gold inlay and borders, center medallion with beaded Gold surround consisting of green enamelled laurels and blue center bearing the Arabic inscription for “Order of Ismail”, the reverse bears a vertical pin flanked by dual stays, measures 80.5mm (w) x 82.4mm (h), weighs 116.7 grams, the reverse is marked LATTES in the center and is hallmarked on the 6 o’clock arm denoting Cairo manufacture, left facing cat mark denoting silver manufacture, and Egyptian Date Letter “Y” (1923-1924), enamels intact, dark patina on rays, a beautiful star in extremely fine condition.
Contained in its original case of issue, a brown leatherette exterior marked with Egyptian crown, the interior white silk lid is marked J. Lattes, Cairo across the top corner, with Arabic inscriptions in the center, the crème coloured velvet medalbed is recessed for both pieces of insignia, with slot for sash below, light wear including scuffs to exterior, remains in very fine condition.
