Type I. 1953 -1958. Sash badge in silver gilt with a five pointed star with blue and red enamels, centre in Gold, reverse Arabic silver hallmark denoting 800 silver content, measuring 62 mm (w) x 79 mm (h-inclusive of gilt suspension), on original, complete sash, very fine. Grand Cordon star consisting of a large silver star base with gilt rays and hand chiseled details, silver silt star set with two toned blue enamels, centre in Gold with finely executed red enamels, reverse with pin assembly and two stays, hallmarked with Arabic hallmark denoting 800 silver content as well as Arabic date letter (1951-53) "ر", measuring 92 mm (w) x 93 mm (h), light wear, near extremely fine.
This offering is a part of the "Dr. Albert Goodwin Collection", a preeminent assemblage of world Orders, Medals, and Decorations composed solely by Dr.Goodwin between 1946-1967. Dr. Goodwin had a successful career as an educator and prominent physician in New York as well as actively serving in both World Wars with the United States Medical Corps. He acted as both President and Vice-President of the Orders and Medals Society of America (OMSA) and is responsible for organizing their first convention in 1960. He maintained further membership with the American Society of Military Collectors, the International Orders Research Society, and the American Numismatic Society.
