Footnote: The Order of the Sinai Star was instituted on February 18, 1974 and awarded for exceptional courage in battle which results in the infliction of casualties upon the enemy. It is the highest award for bravery in battle. It was awarded in two grades, plus a "special class" self-awarded by then-President Anwar al-Sadat.
