Instituted in 1874 by Emperor Yohannes IV. Type I. In silver gilt, consisting of a hexagram star with ball finials, obverse centre presenting a Lilies Cross overlaid with a Latin Cross, adorned by hollow Royal Crown, reverse featuring a plain field, makers mark on ring with indecipherable French stamping, measuring 51 mm (w) x 88 mm (h - inclusive of crown and horizontally pierced ball suspension), on mid -20th Century silk sash, very fine. Accompanied by the star of the order in silver gilt, featuring a multiple ray design forming eight points, consisting of a hexagram star with ball finials, obverse centre presenting a Lilies Cross overlaid with a Latin Cross, reverse with dual stays and central pin assembly, measuring 85.60 mm diameter, weighing 81.6 g, very fine.
