What's a max bid?

Ethiopia, Empire. An Order of the Star of Ethiopia, II Class Commander with Case

Instituted in 1879. In bronze gilt, measuring 71.8 mm (w) x 105 mm (h) inclusive of its crown suspension, with a silvered metal central disk and ring support on the reverse, scattered gilt wear, on its original full-length neck ribbon which is missing a tie at one end, near extremely fine. In its hardshelled case of issue, maroon simulated leather textured exterior, inside lid in white satin and maker marked "Boulanger PARIS", lightly soiled white felt medal bed, push release, measuring 87 mm (w) x 155 mm (h) x 31.2 mm (d), scuffing evident on the exterior, case very fine.

 

Footnote: The Order of the Star of Ethiopia was instituted in 1879 by Negus Menelik of Shoa (later Emperor Menelik II). It was awarded in five grades: Knight Grand Cross, Knight Grand Officer, Knight Commander, Knight Officer and Knight, with the post-nominal letters: GCSE (Grand Cross), GOSE (Grand Officer), CSE (Commander), KSE (Knight).
