1936-1941 Issue. In bronze, measuring 36.5 mm (w) x 40 mm (h), original ribbon with pinback, maker marked "MAPPIN & WEBB Ld" on the pinback, extremely fine. In its hardshelled case of issue, maker marked "MAPPIN & WEBB Ltd LONDON, W." on the inside lid, recessed medal bed, scuffing evident on the exterior, case very fine.
Footnote: The Medal of the Patriot Refugees was instituted by Emperor Haile Selassie I on November 30, 1944, as a reward for meritorious patriots who carried on open hostilities against the enemy during the Campaign of 1936-1941. It was awarded in a single class (bronze), with palms (torches) being awarded for each year of service and worn on the medal ribbon.
