(L'Ordre du Alaouite Chérifien). Instituted in 1913. Type II (1934-1954 Issue). Badge: in silver with red, white and green enamels, gilt on the reverse centrepiece, type II as defined by the lack of inscriptions on the arms on the obverse, hallmarked with a boar's head (denoting French manufacture of 900 silver, post 1838) on the obverse of the integral ring, marked with a boar's head and maker marked ""A.B. & Co"" (Arthus Bertrand) on the obverse of the loop, measuring 58 mm (w) x 84.5 mm (h) inclusive of its wreath and laterally-pierced ball suspension, chipping evident in the red enamels on the tip of the star point at 7 o'clock, contact marks on the reverse centrepiece; and Breast Star: insignia in silver with red, white and green enamels, hallmarked with a boar's head on both the catch and pin, along with being maker marked ""A.B. & Co"" (Arthus Bertrand) on the pin, measuring 79.3 mm (w) x 76 mm (h), vertical pinback. Near extremely fine.
Footnote: The Order of Ouissam Alaouite (AKA Sharifian Order of Al-Alaoui) is a military decoration of Morocco which is bestowed by the King of Morocco upon those civilians and military officers who have displayed heroism in combat or have contributed meritorious service to the Moroccan state. The decoration was established on January 11, 1913 in replacement of the Order of Ouissam Hafidien. It is awarded in five classes: Grand Cross, Grand Officer, Commander, Officer and Knight.

Dr. Goodwin had a successful career as an educator and prominent physician in New York as well as actively serving in both World Wars with the United States Medical Corps. He acted as both President and Vice-President of the Orders and Medals Society of America (OMSA) and is responsible for organizing their first convention in 1960. He maintained further membership with the American Society of Military Collectors, the International Orders Research Society, and the American Numismatic Society.
