Footnote: The Order of Mehdauia (Order of Guidance) was instituted on August 18, 1926 by His Highness Prince Mulay Hasan bin al-Mahdi, great grandson of His Majesty Sultan Sidi Muhammad IV bin Abdul-Rahman, Sultan of Morocco from 1859 to 1873, and who had been enthroned Khalifa of Tetouan on November 9, 1925, succeeding his father. Tetouan was capital of Spanish Morocco in the days when northern Morocco was a Spanish Protectorate. The Order became obsolete in 1956.
