MAGUNDA" on the edge, measuring 36.2 mm in diameter); and Zimbabwe Independence Medal 1980, 2nd Class Bronze Grade (in bronze gilt, number impressed "39887" on the edge, measuring 38.5 mm (w) x 43.7 mm (h)). Un-mounted, edge nicks and bruising on the RGSM, gilt wear on the ZIM, contact marks on both, original ribbons, very fine.
Footnote: The Rhodesia General Service Medal was the most widely awarded military medal of Rhodesia and was awarded to members of the security forces and British South Africa Police, for service on operations undertaken for the purpose of combating terrorists or enemy incursions into Rhodesia. The Zimbabwe Independence Medal was awarded to any person or group or category of people nominated by the Prime Minister, in two classes: 1st Class Silver Grade and 2nd Class Bronze Grade.
