A WWI British War Medal to the Nova Scotia Regiment - (3190318 PTE. C.E. SCARFE. N.S.R.). Naming is officially impressed. Very dark patina, extremely fine. Footnote: Carl Edward Scarfe was born on March 3, 1896 in Dartmouth, Nova Scotia. He was a resident of Dartmouth when he signed his Particulars of Recruit Drafted Under Military Service Act 1917 Paper, Military Service Act No. 628484 G.C., with the 1st Depot Battalion, Nova Scotia Regiment, Military District No. 6, as a Private (3190318), on July 9, 1918 at Aldershot Camp, Nova Scotia, at the age of 22, naming his next-of-kin as his father, Arthur ParkerScarfe of Dartmouth, stating that he had two years' previous service with the 63rd Regiment "Halifax Rifles", that he was Single, that his religion was Church of England and that his trade was that of Student. Scarfe served in Canada and Britain from July 9, 1918 to July 13, 1919 in the 17th Reserve Battalion and survived the war.
