Footnote: The Order of the Black Eagle was the highest title that could be bestowed on a citizen of the Principality of Albania. The order was established by Prince Weid of Albania on March 26, 1914, on the example of the Prussian Order of the Black Eagle, for merit both civilian and military in nature. The order had a black eagle and around the words ""Besë e bashkim"" (Besa and Union). It came in five classes (Grand Cross, Grand Officer, Commander, Officer, Knight) and three medals (Gold, Silver, Bronze). It was discontinued in 1945.
